Are You Standing Up Straight?

The way you stand, walk and sit not only reflects upon your appearance but poor posture can actually have an effect on your physical and mental well being. If the body’s joints, muscles, and bones are in proper alignment there is less chance of injury from stress and strain. Depression and a lack of self-confidence can both be associated with poor posture. It has also been known to interfere with proper digestion.

With all these side effects in mind, how can you be sure that your posture is the best it can be? If you are seriously overweight or if your job or personal life is causing you to stress out on a daily basis you may be showing some of the signs of poor posture. Next time you pass a mirror take a side view glance. Is your head out in front of your shoulders? In the office, do you catch yourself slouching over your desk? These could be signs that you should check in for a chiropractic analysis.

If after a thorough evaluation your chiropractor feels that treatment is in order he may recommend an adjustment followed up with exercise and a program designed to improve the way you position your body. It may take awhile to get used to the changes but the result will be well worth the effort.
